A total of Ksh 3.6 million was raised from the first leg, first round CAF Champions League qualifying clash between Mogadishu City Club and Kenya Police FC that was played Saturday at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
According to communication seen by Radio Generation Sport from the match organizing committee, the much anticipated qualifier was attended by a total of 10,065 fans. Tickets were segmented depending on the section in the stadium. A regular ticket retailed at Ksh 300, with VIP going for Ksh 1,000, VVIP for Ksh 3,000 and Presidential for Ksh 10,000.
The attendance was impressive for a Champions League preliminary qualifier and especially considering it did not feature any of Kenya's prominent community clubs such as Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards or Shabana.
With the first leg ending 3-1 in Kenya Police's favour, a competitive second leg is expected to take place Sunday 28 September 2025 at the same venue.
Police won the match courtesy of goals from Erick Zakayo in the first half, Edward Omondi, and substitute David Simiyu in the second period. Mogadishu City's consolation came courtesy of Isaa Adim Marsis at the beginning of the second half.
Nyayo Stadium holds a total capacity of 19,000 in the aftermath of recent renovations that improved it to a CAF sanctioned facility, following years of neglect.
Initially, Nyayo had a capacity of 30,000, but with the added seats and security provisions implemented ahead of the recently ended African Nations Championships CHAN competition, the capacity reduced to 19,000.
